DEVELOPMENT ACTION FOR WOMEN IN NEED (DAWN)

DAWN Society has been established in the year 1993 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with the initiative of its chief functionary Mrs. K. Ratna Kumari, a social activist.

Initially, the Organization was aimed at addressing the Gender issues with emphasis to the development of women. DAWN Society has been working for overall development of the community. One of the main objectives of the Organization is to render services to enhance public health especially among vulnerable groups and people living in acute poverty so as to empower them in health aspects. However, in its journey of 18 years, DAWN has not only took the Health mainstreaming aspects, but, the burning socio-economic issues like poverty, health, illiteracy, social oppression and lack of basic facilities to the people necessitated the intervention of DAWN. Mainstreaming on HIV/AIDS & Training

The training is aimed at awareness programs to the risk prone women and has identified 80 village resource persons. Total of 12220 people were covered under the awareness program, in which SHGs, YGs, FGs, YSSs and WSGs participated

Child labor Eradication Program

The program is implemented for five years in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. The objective of the project is to mainstream the “out of school children”, decrease child labor and ensure that stakeholders take the responsibility in children education, particularly “parents”. The project closely works with “School Management Committees” and sees
